November '89 je významným politickým medzníkom našich novodobých dejín, ktorý zásadne ovplyvnil aj postavenie umenia v spoločnosti. Nadobudnutá sloboda prejavu umožnila umelcom a umelkyniam nielen verejne prezentovať ich diela, ale aj otvorene vyjadrovať kritické názory.
Pri príležitosti tridsiateho výročia novembrových udalostí pripravila Kunsthalle Bratislava výstavu Moc bezmocných zameranú na umenie, ktoré kriticky reflektuje spoločenské problémy v slovenskom a českom kontexte. Výstava mapuje, ako sa rozličné politické otázky odrážali v umeleckej tvorbe na Slovensku a v Českej republike v priebehu posledných tridsiatich rokov.
November 1989 is an important political turning-point in the Slovak modern history, which has also essentially influenced the status of art in society. The newly-acquired freedom of expression enabled artists not only to present their works in public but also to express critical opinions.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the November events Kunsthalle Bratislava has prepared The Power of the Powerless, an exhibition focused on art that critically reflects on social problems in the Slovak and Czech context. The exhibition maps how various political issues have been reflected in the work of artists in both countries during the past thirty years.
