Cena Oskára Čepana 2018 v dielach svojich protagonistov reflektuje aktuálne témy a na spoločnej výstave, ktorá má fungovať ako komunikačný celok, prichádza s ideami, ktoré na utópie a dystópie, problematiku identity a tela, nazerajú už poučene, zrelo a z nadhľadu.
Zo svojej generačnej perspektívy prezentovaní umelci pracujú s týmito pojmami ako s prvkami stavebnice zložitej, mnohovrstevnej reality, ktorú reflektujú vo svojich individuálnych jazykoch a rôznymi médiami: maľbou, kresbou, inštaláciou, videom, fotografiou, hudbou, živou performanciou, zásahom do verejného priestoru, participatívnym projektom a virtuálnou realitou. Vďaka zmene štatútu Ceny mohli umelci v tomto ročníku vystaviť spolu s novými aj staršie diela, resp. také, na ktorých už dlhšie pracujú. Čítanie chvejivých hraníc medzi viditeľným a neviditeľným podporuje aj architektonické riešenie výstavy, ktoré komplikovaný priestor na jednej strane zjednocuje, na druhej strane ho rešpektuje a vytvára skôr komunikačné spojenia, než ohraničenia jednotlivých diel a inštalácií.
Oskár Čepan Award 2018 in the artworks of the contestants reflects the contemporary issues. The award exhibition, which is supposed to function as a communicational unit, comes up with perceptions, concepts and visions, which view the utopias and dystopias, problems of the identity and body with knowledge and distance.
The artists from the perspective of their generation approach them as segments of a modular kit of the complex, multilayer reality which they reflect in their individual languages and various media: painting, drawing, installation, video, photography, music, live performance, intervention in public space, participating projects and virtual reality. Due to the change of the Award statute, the artists have been allowed to exhibit older artworks or works which they had been working on for longer time along with the new ones. The sensation of the palpitant boundaries between the visible and invisible echoes in the exhibition scenography, which on one hand unifies the complex exhibition place and on the other, it respects it and creates communicational links rather than frontier of the individual artworks and installations.
