Zuzana Žabková patrí k mladšej generácii Slovenských vizuálnych umelcov. Na výtvarnej scéne je neprehliadnuteľná, prepája performance, video a inštaláciu. Prezentuje sa v role umelkyne, tanečníčky, choreografky. Jej tvorba je silne autonómna a zároveň voľne prekračuje jednotlivé disciplíny. Čerpá z celej škály historických a súčasných repertoárov od literatúry, cez klasickú hudbu až po film, či choreografiu, ktoré integruje do ucelenej umeleckej praxe. Pracuje s tým čo znamená pozícia diváka a pohráva sa s priamočiarosťou, bezprostrednosťou, zraniteľnosťou a vystavením sa vo vzťahu k druhým a zdôrazňuje napätie medzi živou udalosťou a dokumentáciou.
Okrem sólových projektov často vstupuje do kooperácií s ďalšími umelkyňami/ umelcami ako Caroline Creutzburg, Catalina Insignares, Fero Király, Lucia Kvočáková, René Alejandro Huari Mateus, Carolina Mendonca, Lucie Mičíková, Nik Timková, Else Tunemyr.
Momentálne pôsobí na Institute for Applied Theater Studies program Choreografie a performance v nemeckom Giessene u slovinskej filozofky Bojany Kunst. V roku 2016 absolvovala danceWEB scholarship na medzinárodnom festivale ImPulsTanz vo Viedni pod vedením umelca Tina Seghala a program artist-in-residence v Triangle Arts Association v New Yorku. V roku 2015 absolvovala Salzburg Academy scholarship v Rakúsku (ERSTE Stiftung) a rezidenčný pobyt v Meetfactory v Prahe. V rokoch 2010 – 2013 študovala tanečnú choreografiu na Vysokej škole múzických umení v Bratislave, počas ktorej absolvovala magistra umení v roku 2012 aj na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení, kde navštevovala Ateliér IN Ilony Németh. V roku 2013, keď bola zároveň finalistkou Ceny Oskára Čepana, získala medzinárodné ocenenie pre najtalentovanejších študentov výtvarných akadémií Essl Award. Zúčastnila sa mnohých rezidenčných pobytov napríklad v americkom Santa Cruz, v rakúskom Linzi, nemeckom Lipsku či v Budapešti. Má za sebou početné výstavné projekty.
Zuzana Žabková belongs to the younger generation of Slovak visual artists. She is unmissable on the art scene. She connects performance, video, and installation. She presents herself in the roles of an artist, a dancer, and a choreographer. Her creation is strongly autonomous and seamlessly transcends genres and styles. She taps from a large scale of historical and contemporary repertoires, from literature and classical music to film or choreography which she integrates into one comprehensive practice. She works with what the audience position means and she plays with straightforwardness, immediacy, vulnerability, and exposing herself in connection with others. She emphasizes the tension between a live event and documentation.
Besides solo projects, Zuzana often enters cooperations with other artists, such as Caroline Creutzburg, Catalina Insignares, Fero Király, Lucia Kvočáková, René Alejandro Huari Mateus, Carolina Mendonca, Lucie Mičíková, Nik Timková, Else Tunemyr.
She currently operates at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Choreography and performance program under the supervision of Slovenian philosopher Bojana Kunst in Giessen, Germany. In 2016 she took part in a danceWEB scholarship at the international festival ImPulsTanz in Vienna under the supervision of the artist Tino Sehgal and an artist-in-residence program at the Triangle Arts Association in New York. In 2015 she took part in the Salzburg Academy scholarship in Austria (ERSTE Stiftung) and a residency at the Meetfactory in Prague.
In the years 2010 – 2013, she studied dance choreography at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 2012 from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she worked in Ilona Németh’s atelier. In 2013 she received an international Essl Award award for the most talented students of art academies while also being one of the finalists of the Oskár Čepan Awards. She took part in many residencies, such as her residency in Santa Cruz, Linz, Leipzig, or Budapest. She had multiple exhibition projects.
