Výstavný projekt Experiment je sprístupnením časti pozostalosti Roberta Cypricha, ktorú uchoval český umelec a kurátor Jan Mlčoch. Po jeho smrti sa k nemu riadením osudu dostalo niekoľko škatúľ Cyprichovho archívu, ktorý pozorne utriedil a sprehľadnil. Sám ako akčný umelec a performer neoficiálnej českej scény sedemdesiatych rokov k Cyprichovmu intenzívnemu až seba-spaľujúcemu životu pristupuje s empatiou toho, kto poznal konfliktnosť „oných rokov“. Výstava pracuje s dielami ako zástupnými ukážkami rôznych fáz Cyprichovej tvorby a jej variabilných polôh. Nejde o monografické spracovanie autora, ale vo výberovom zastúpení poukazuje na dôležitý aspekt – na Cyprichovo hľadanie zmyslu umeleckej tvorby v komunikácii, v „poetizácii“ civilného. V jeho snažení vytvárať podnety a šíriť ich tak, aby samotná tvorba bola životnou praxou.
Extenzívna situácia je paralelným participatívnym projektom umelkýň a umelcov, ktorých diela interpretujú, ale aj aktualizujú odkaz Cyprichových myšlienok, jeho umeleckých a teoretických konceptov. Pre samotnú výstavu vznikli autorské diela a performatívne vystúpenia. Tie reaktualizujú zmysel tvorby, ktorá bola výrazne založená na spolupráci, na kolektívnom prenose alebo zdieľaní zážitku.
Aj keď je Robert Cyprich legendou slovenskej neoavantgardnej scény, patrí k jej strateným a nepoznaným postavám. Koncom 80. rokov sa z prostredia umenia potichu vytrácal, takže v roku 1996 zomrel takmer v absolútnej izolácii. Jeho najbližší priateľ Milan Adamčiak v nekrológu napísal, že bol „skvelým a citlivým pozorovateľom umenia a života. Nekompromisným kritikom, tlmočníkom túžob a želaní, kunsthistorikom, ktorého školou boli kontakty.“
The exhibition project Experiment provides access to the legacy of Robert Cyprich, which has been kept by a Czech artist and curator Jan Mlčoch. After his death, Mlčoch got his hands on a few boxes of Cyprich’s archive. He sorted them and smoothed them out. As an action artist and a performer of the unofficial Czech scene of the 70s, he treats Cyprich’s intense and self-destructive past life with the empathy of someone who knew the conflicted nature of “those years”. The exhibition includes art pieces as a representative preview of various phases of Cyprich’s creations and their variable positions. This is not a monograph of the author, but it rather points to an important aspect – Cyprich’s search for the meaning of art in communication, in “poetization” of the civil, and in his effort to create stimuli and extend them so the creations itself become life practice.
The extensive situation is a parallel, participative project of artists whose art pieces interpret but also update the message of Cyprich’s thoughts, his artistic and theoretical concepts. Art pieces and performances were created for this exhibition. They update the meaning of artistic creation that was distinctly based on cooperation, collective transmission, or sharing experiences.
Even though Robert Cyprich is a legend of the Slovak neo avant-garde scene, he belongs to the lost and unknown characters. He slowly disappeared from the art scene at the end of the 80s and he died in 1996 in absolute isolation. His closest friend, Milan Adamčiak wrote in his necrology that “He was a great and sensitive spectator of art and life. An uncompromising critic, an interpreter of desires and wishes, an art historian whose school were his contacts”
