Samostatná výstava Everafterlifeparty Erika Bindera je zostavená z kombinácií najnovších malieb a objektov umelca so staršími dielami. Jej názov vznikol tiež ako hybridné spojenie slov ever after (rozprávkový koniec, vo význame “a boli šťastní až kým nepomreli”), after life (posmrtný život) a after party (večierku nasledujúcom po nejakej spoločenskej alebo kultúrnej udalosti, alebo po inom večierku).
Zánik sveta, teda jeho konečné vývinové štádium, finálne riešenie, má tiež posmrtné alternatívy, s ktorými oddávna pracuje ľudská kultúra a fantázia. Apokalypsa slúži často ako skratka pre všetky typy prírodných, sociopolitických, ekonomických katastrof. Ale jej pôvodný význam pochádza z gréckeho pojmu pre odhalenie alebo pre zdvihnutie závoja. Ako sa uvádza v Knihe Zjavenia sv. Jána v Novom Zákone, Apokalypsa je odpoveďou na problém zla a dáva zmysel zjavnému chaosu dejín, pretože ju podáva ako perspektívu nevyhnutného vývoja plánu sveta, ktorého koniec je prednastavený už v jeho počiatku. Binderova vízia je post-apokalyptická, teda vychádza z predstavivosti o svete uprostred svojho konca, vo víre sprievodných kataklyzmatických udalostí. Zároveň je osobná, precítená, plná poézie každodennosti a špecifického nenapodobiteľného autorovho vizuálneho humoru. Binderova párty na konci vekov je úchvatnou zážitkovou jazdou ako z rozprávky.

Erik Binder’s solo exhibition everafterlifeparty is constructed from the artist’s recent paintings and objects combined with his older works. Its title was created also as a hybrid fusion of the words ever after (a fairy tale ending, meaning “and they lived happily ever after until they died”), after life (“the life after death”), and after party (a party following a social or cultural event, or after yet another party).
The extinction of the world, i.e. its ultimate developmental stage, the final solution, also has post-mortem alternatives, with which human culture and imagination have been working for ages. Apocalypse often serves as a shorthand for all types of natural, socio-political, economic catastrophes. But its original meaning comes from the Greek term for unveiling or lifting the veil. As the Book of Revelation of St. John in the New Testament puts it, the Apocalypse is a response to a problem of evil and provides meaning to obvious chaos of history by presenting it as a prospect of an inevitable unfolding of a plan for the world whose end is preordained at its inception. Binder’s vision is post-apocalyptic, so it is based on an imagination of the world in the midst of its end, in the whirlwind of concomitant cataclysmic events. At the same time, it is personal, heartfelt, full of poetry of daily life and author’s particular inimitable visual humour. Binder’s party at the end of time is a breathtaking dreamlike ride like from a fairy tale.
