Barth zaujíma estetická stránka ľudskej snahy o systematické usporiadanie priestoru – súkromná architektúra úžitkových predmetov. Čerpá z vlastných fotografií (ktoré nearanžuje), alebo nájdených fotografií z realitných inzerátov. Na rozdiel od predchádzajúcej tvorby, v ktorej Alexandra Barth redukovala realitu na čo najjednoduchšie formy, sa teraz obsedantne, priam filigránsky zameriava na svetlo a drobné detaily definujúce materiál, či časť konštrukcie (ku ktorým pristupuje často veľmi arbitrárne).
Použitie airbrushu umožňuje pracovať s dojmom „fotoreality“. Výtvarné prostriedky sú však použité voči zobrazovanej skutočnosti zavádzajúcim spôsobom. Vzniká tak určitý materiálový a svetelný klam, podobne ako pri filmových kulisách. Kompozičné členenie obrazu je inšpirované reklamnou fotografiou, či filmovou kamerou, ktorá kladie dôraz na dramatickosť scény. Vizualita týchto malieb má blízko k digitálnemu renderu alebo umelej realite počítačových hier, čo vo výsledku posilňuje napätie medzi familiárnosťou námetu a odcudzenosťou jeho maliarskeho prevedenia.
Barth takes interest in the aesthetic side of human effort to systematically arrange items in space – the personal architecture of utility items. She uses her own unstaged photos or photos found in real-estate open ads. In comparison to her previous work where Alexandra Barth reduced reality into the most basic shapes, now she obsessively focuses on light and tiny details that define material or a part of a construction, which she often approaches very arbitrarily.
The use of an airbrush allows working with an impression of “photorealism”. The artistic ways and means are however presented misleadingly as opposed to the pictured reality. It creates a material and light illusion, similar to a movie coulisse. The compositional division is inspired by commercial photography or movie camera work that puts focus on the drama of the scene. The visuality of these paintings is close to a digital render or a fake reality of computer games, which results in a tension between the familiarity of the idea and the foreignness of the painting.
