Kurátorom a kurátorkou výstavy Cena Oskára Čepana 2020 sú Viktor Čech (CZ) a Lucia Gavulová (SK). Viktor Čech: „Na výběru letošní finálové čtveřice Ceny Oskára Čepana mne velmi pozitivně překvapilo, jakými souvislostmi do sebe na výstavu připravovaná díla všech autorů zapadají, i když každý z nich vychází ze značně odlišných tvůrčích pozic. Ať již je to soustředěný důraz na problematiku malby a s ní spojené tělesnosti u Ludmily Hrachovinové, sociální a komunikační využití sdělnosti média kresby v projektech Daniely Krajčové, konceptuálně uchopenou institucionální kritiku některých jevů slovenské společnosti v elegantních instalacích Kristiána Nemétha, či nečekaná setkání tradice a nejaktuálnějších trendů v médiích i tematice u tvorby Jozefa Piláta. Při debatách nad výstavou se spolukurátorkou i s jednotlivými umělci mne potěšilo, do jaké míry do sebe toto směřování jednotlivých autorů nečekaně zapadá i jako velmi plastická mapa sociálního vztahování se současných slovenských umělců jak ke specifickým divákům, tak také k problematice celé slovenské společnosti a jejích problémů. Všemi autory sdílený zájem o člověka jako o fyzické i sociální tělo a ohledávání možností komunikace s divákem tak ve výsledku může z jejich výstavy, kde jinak připravují každý svůj projekt samostatně v rámci jimi vymezených prostorů, vytvořit pro diváky velmi podnětné prostředí a místo k zamyšlení nad úlohou umění v současné společnosti.“
The curators of the 2020 Oskár Čepan Award are Viktor Čech (Czechia) and Lucia Gavulová (Slovakia). Viktor Čech: “I was pleasantly surprised by the way the works of the four artists shortlisted for the award were interrelated even though they significantly differ in terms of their creative points of departure. Whether this involves the focused accent on the issue of painting and the corporeality that goes with it with Ludmila Hrachovinová, the social and communicative use of the expressiveness of the medium of drawing in projects of Daniela Krajčová, the conceptually conceived critique of certain phenomena in Slovak society in the elegant installations of Kristián Németh, or the unexpected meeting of tradition and the most up-to-date trends in the media and themes chosen by Jozef Pilát. When discussing the exhibition with my fellow curator Lucia and the individual artists, I was delighted by the extent to which these directions taken by each of the creators also unexpectedly work as a very plastic map of the way contemporary Slovak artists socially relate to specific audiences as well as to the issue of the Slovak society and its problems as a whole. All artists share interest in human beings as physical and social bodies and their investigation of possibilities of communicating with audiences can therefore eventually turn the exhibition, which otherwise involves their projects prepared independently, each in their separate space, into an extraordinarily inspiring environment and a place where spectators can ponder the role of art in contemporary society.”
